c'est or il est?
Point at a thing, or describe someone
C'est introduces something or someone with a noun after it: c'est un ami, c'est Marie, c'est le meilleur. If the next word is un, une, le, la, mon, or a name, use c'est. Il est and elle est are followed by an adjective alone or a job with no article: il est gentil, elle est médecin.
So: c'est un bon médecin, but il est médecin. C'est is also the word for general comments: c'est facile, c'est vrai.
