y and en
y for places and à-things, en for de-things and amounts
Two more tiny words that jump in front of the verb. y replaces a place, or à + a thing: 'Je vais à Paris' becomes 'J'y vais'. 'Je pense à mon examen' becomes 'J'y pense'. Think of y as 'there'.
en replaces de + something, or a quantity: 'Je veux du pain' becomes 'J'en veux'. 'J'ai trois chats' becomes 'J'en ai trois' (the number stays at the end). Think of en as 'some / of it / of them'.
